Building Stronger and Safer Communities
Celebrating 35 Years of ‘National Night Out’
The annual National Night Out being held this year on August 7 is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and community camaraderie in order to make neighborhoods safer. In Prince George’s County, this is an all-out effort as it celebrates the 35th anniversary of the event at dozens of locations throughout the county.
The community celebration is sure to draw elected officials, civic and faith leaders, as well as law enforcement and other first responders to go out into their communities to mingle, get to know and talk with the people they serve, educate on safety, and to foster positive partnerships within the neighborhoods they serve.
Millions of people take part in National Night Out in thousands of communities spanning all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.
Participants in Prince George’s are asked to come out in the evening, bring their lawn chairs and the whole family, and enjoy a festive atmosphere including music, food, games, moon bounces, safety demonstrations, exhibits, and much more.
