County Executive Angela Alsobrooks Announces Primary Objectives Of FY2020 Budget
Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks announced her administration’s FY2020 budget Mar. 14.
It is the first proposed budget of the new administration.
“[This plan] is in line with our principles,” the county’s top executive reported at a press conference held at the new Wayne Curry Administration Building.
Highlights of the budget include education, crime reduction, youth development and quality of life.
Alsobrooks’ effort this year to increase summer jobs for youth in the county from 3,000 to 6,000 and expanding the age range to young people aged 14 – 22 is part of her focus on youth.
One of the more popular issues of the new budget includes a return to twice per week trash pick up which will be phased into placement over the next three years.
In fact, as Prince George’s has the largest compost facility on the east coast, the county will be able to generate revenue from the effort.
