G.S. Proctor & Associates’ Continues Its Tradition in Providing Meals During An Annual Holiday Turkey Drive

It’s been 25 years now that Steve Proctor and G.S. Proctor & Associates has stepped up during the holidays and have provided holiday meals to those in-need. It’s no small task. In fact, for all of these years, it’s been the firm’s clients and local businesses that have served as true partners in making sure the annual Turkey Drive is not only a success but that it reaches those who need a turkey and a basket the most.

On November 22, a truck loaded with turkeys and all the popular side fixings came rushing into Prince George’s County, making several stops in the community as elected officials and local nonprofits passed out the turkeys in their community. The turkey drive began in distribution for the day in La Plata, MD, where the turkeys were stored. With the help of LifeStyles of Maryland, a community nonprofit a shipment of the turkeys were stored. Joined by St. John Properties, one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s largest and most successful privately held commercial real estate firms made a charitable $15,000 donation to the event.

“This is truly a partnership across the county, amongst businesses and elected officials, they know their community they know who is in-need and what they need, we did our part and just provided what was needed,” said Proctor, who is the firm’s President & CEO.

The holidays can bring cheer to families and it can also be a reminder of what is missing. During these times, as residents are still reeling with the impact of the pandemic after losing loved ones and being unemployed, the holidays don’t seem so ‘Ho-Ho-Ho’ anymore. G.S. Proctor & Associates’ pulled in clients and supporters to raise money that would not only feed families during the holidays but tackle the bigger issue in the county which has become food insecurities.

“Some wrote checks and others volunteered. I want people to know this is an ongoing effort from everyone. We are all collectively working together to get this done,” Proctor said.

More than 1,000 families in Prince George’s and Charles counties were provided turkeys and popular side dishes to-go and packed up in bags, thanks to the generosity of local businesses that have contributed to G.S. Proctor & Associates’ annual Holiday Turkey Drive. The long list of contributors include healthcare, utility, and real estate and commercial companies serving clients in the Washington, DC area.

Organizations like the Wills Group in La Plata and the Mission of Love Charities in Capitol Heights have been serving their communities for years. “They truly stepped up in a major way.”

“St. John Properties is proud to support the 2021 Holiday Turkey Drive to benefit families in Prince George’s and Charles Counties,” St. John Properties said in a statement. “Throughout our 50-year history, we have remained committed to being a good corporate citizen and giving back to communities in which we have a presence. We’d like to thank the organizations and individuals who have worked to make this turkey drive possible, and wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.

“It’s been an honor to serve our community for all these years through our Holiday Turkey Drive,” Proctor said. “This year, more than ever, we are overwhelmed and grateful for the amazing contributions of the absolute rock stars and so many others whose caring and generosity will make the holidays truly special for families in our area.”
