Baker To Run For Maryland Governor?
Former County Executive Discusses Potential Campaign for 2022 Race
According to a Maryland news source, former Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III may run for governor of Maryland in 2022.
Maryland Matters reported April 8 that the two-term county executive has put his hat in the ring to achieve the state’s highest executive office.
Baker is highly regarded for his administration’s work in elevating the county after his predecessor, Jack Johnson, was imprisoned for corruption.
As for the decision to run for governor, Baker reportedly told Maryland Matters’ Bruce DePuyt: “I believe that public service is a way of not accepting the status quo and making change for everybody,” he said.
