Crabs and Conversation
Bowie State University’s Women’s Forum Hosts Its Annual All-You-Can-Eat Feast to Rejuvenate, Refuel, and Regenerate

It’s the crabs for me! Whether you’re a Maryland blue crab enthusiast or enjoy good fellowship, one thing for sure is that the coronavirus pandemic flipped the world upside-down and put in-person gatherings on hold. Now that about half of American adults are fully vaccinated and returning back to normal, so does the traditional ways of hosting events. Bowie State University Women’s Forum hosted its 3rd annual Crabs and Conversation event on July 21 at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt.
Crabs and Conversation sets out to create a framework around good discussions and delicious food. Returning to its signature dish; crabs, this year’s theme is: Rejuvenate, Refuel, and Regenerate. Getting people back to making connections and being comfortable with returning to normal is the goal.
“We are looking to gain feedback for additional programs. We know this event kicks off our fall semester and what better time like now, than to invite people to connect before the upcoming school year,” said Vonzella R. McQueen, chair of the Women’s Forum.
The Women’s Forum was introduced by Bowie State’s President Dr. Aminta Breaux upon her arrival to the historically black college for nearly four years. Part of the National University System of Maryland Women’s Forum (USM), Bowie State established its chapter in 2017. The organization is committed to empowering women and influencing change.
Crabs and Conversation tickets were $55 per person and include a stellar menu with crabs, steamed shrimp chicken, pasta, and sides.
“Everyone is thrilled because it’s really the kick-off event for programming for us,” said McQueen. “When people see our flyer and colors, they get excited!”
