More Money for Improvements in Prince George’s
Hogan Administration Announces Nearly $1.6M For Operating Assistance Grants, Including Main Street Improvement Awards
Four Prince George’s County nonprofit organizations (whose mission includes community revitalization and economic development) received funding from the Hogan Administration’s 1.6 million operating assistance grant program for Maryland’s local governments, Main Streets and organizations to achieve their infrastructure goals.
The following organizations have been awarded $90,000 in grants:
● Anacostia Trails Heritage Area, Inc., is the non-profit organization that manages the state heritage tourism area in the county. They received $20,000 to help activate Main Streets and Affiliates in Prince George's County.
● The City of Mount Rainier, a local government agency operating as a municipality, received $25,000 towards the technical assistance for Rhode Island Avenue Façade Improvements.
● East-West CDC Foundation Inc., a Community, Neighborhood Development, Improvement organization received $20,000 for the Madison Street Acquisitions.
● Housing Options & Planning Enterprises, Inc., is a non-profit, HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency that helps people and families find and keep housing that meets their needs and received $25,000 to assist the aging population to restore their lives and housing life.
Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Kenneth C. Holt announced today that $1,580,000 has been awarded for 62 projects in 20 jurisdictions as part of the Operating Assistance Grant awards.
“Each of these projects and programs will help revitalize communities and their economies,” said Holt. “The funds directly support local partners who work every day to address the unique economic development needs of their neighborhoods, towns, and cities.”
Operating Assistance Grants provide funding for Main Street Improvements and Technical Assistance. The Department received 121 Operating Assistance Grant applications requesting nearly $6 million.
