Braveboy Adds Ashe and Atkinson To Executive Team
New Leadership Team Takes Shape as Braveboy Strengthens Executive Office
Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy has expanded her executive leadership team with the appointments of Michael Ashe as Chief of Staff and Carleton Atkinson as Deputy Chief of Staff, two veteran public servants whose combined experience in government operations, public safety, legislative affairs, and public policy is expected to help advance the administration’s priorities.
The appointments underscore the administration's ongoing effort to build a leadership team focused on efficiency, collaboration, and accountability as the county continues addressing strategic priorities and delivering services to residents. County Executive Braveboy said the appointments reflect her commitment to creating a government that is engaging, effective, responsive, and positioned for long-term success.
Together, Ashe and Atkinson are expected to provide complementary leadership that strengthens operational excellence, innovation, and accountability while positioning Prince George's County to meet the evolving needs of its residents and continue its trajectory of growth and progress.
"As we continue building a government that is engaging, efficient, effective, and responsive, it is critical that we have leaders with the experience and vision to help move Prince George's County forward," Braveboy said, noting that both executives bring decades of leadership experience and a proven record of producing results.
As the County's new Chief of Staff, Ashe will oversee the daily operations of the Office of the County Executive while coordinating executive leadership across county government and helping implement the administration’s strategic agenda. His appointment follows more than four decades of public service, including service with the United States Marine Corps' presidential helicopter squadron, a distinguished career with the Prince George's County Police Department, leadership of the State's Attorney's Executive Protection Unit, and his recent role as Special Assistant to the County Executive and Director of Executive Operations.
Joining him is Atkinson, who assumes the role of Deputy Chief of Staff after serving as Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. With more than 25 years of experience in legislative strategy, public policy, and government relations, Atkinson has led the County's legislative agenda before state, federal, and regional leaders while building partnerships that have secured significant public investments. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Maryland State Director for U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, overseeing statewide operations and advising on legislative affairs.
In his new position, Atkinson will help coordinate strategic policy initiatives, strengthen relationships with governmental partners, oversee cross-government collaboration, and support implementation of the County Executive's vision.
