April is Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month. The experience of Autism is not one thing. There are many things. It’s dreams, talents, relationships, victories, hurdles, and everything in between. One in 44 children and one in 45 adults have autism. The connection between those experiences is you. Improving our education system means taking steps to create a world class system for all of our children, including those with special needs. Children with autism often are forgotten. As a council member, my plan is to ensure that all of our children have an opportunity to receive a quality education so that they can have a bright future.
In the spirit of Autism Awareness month, it is not too late to show your support today for individuals with autism and help them reach their full potential by donating at autismspeaks.org. I'm running to reimagine what is possible in District 6: quality and smart development, increasing our property values, growing our minority small business community, creating more jobs, keeping our dollars in our communities, addressing crime and gun violence, re-energizing our school system, and enhancing the quality of life for our seniors. We must work to ensure that our county works for all its residents, promoting both equity and growth, and building better together.
This requires bold leadership with a big vision for our community. I have a proven track record of bold leadership with nearly 20 years’ experience in every branch of our county government and a strong record of support for our community and for local, minority businesses. I look forward to continuing this movement with you as your next elected District 6 representative on the Prince George's County Council!
