Prince George’s County Gears Up for a 100-Day Celebration

Braveboy

Grab your cowboy boots and your appetite—Prince George’s County is throwing a party, and you’re invited. County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy is marking her first 100 days in office the best way possible: with a good old-fashioned family picnic, complete with music, laughter, and plenty of food.

The “100 Days – Boots on the Ground” Family Picnic kicks off on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Watkins Park in Upper Marlboro. Picture this: kids running toward the Wizard of Oz playground, families spreading out picnic blankets under the fall sky, and neighbors greeting one another like old friends. Add the smell of barbecue and the sound of live entertainment, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for community fun.

Cowboy Boots Meet County Pride

This isn’t just a picnic—it’s a party with personality. The theme, “Boots on the Ground,” invites everyone to step into their western spirit. Expect denim, cowboy hats, and plenty of boots tapping to the beat. Whether you’re rocking rhinestone-studded cowboy gear or just your favorite sneakers, the vibe will be the same: relaxed, joyful, and totally Prince George’s.

To keep the energy high, the day’s emcee is none other than Joe Clair, a master of humor and crowd engagement who knows how to turn an afternoon into an event. Between laughs, families will enjoy performances, interactive entertainment, and maybe even a little line dancing.

A Feast for Everyone

What’s a picnic without food? Watkins Park will be buzzing with the aroma of grilled favorites, sweet treats, and all the fixings of a classic cookout. The best part? It’s free for the community. Families can eat, play, and relax without worrying about the bill.

It’s more than just a menu—it’s a celebration of the county’s diversity, flavor, and love for gathering around the table.

A Milestone Worth Marking

The first 100 days of any administration can set the tone for what’s to come. For County Executive Braveboy, it’s about showing that progress is built on people. “The first 100 days are just the beginning,” she shared when announcing the event. “There’s no better way to celebrate than by bringing our community together.”

Why You Shouldn’t Miss It

Watkins Park, located at 301 Watkins Park Drive, is the perfect backdrop for the festivities. Kids can burn energy at the playground, adults can catch up with neighbors, and everyone can enjoy the live music echoing across the fields.

This picnic is more than an afternoon out—it’s a snapshot of Prince George’s County at its best: vibrant, welcoming, and moving forward together.

So dust off those boots, mark your calendar, and come ready to celebrate. Prince George’s County is throwing a cookout you won’t want to miss.
