Men Who Cook In Pink
A Taste of Community, A Touch of Pink
Bring your appetite—and a little pink—to Oxon Hill High School on Saturday, October 10, when good food meets a good cause at the fourth annual Men Who Cook in Pink.
Hosted by County Executive Aisha Braveboy and the Prince George’s County Office of Community Relations, the gathering runs from noon to 3 p.m., with doors opening at 11:45 a.m. This year’s theme, “Elevating the Fight Against Breast Cancer,” puts community care on the menu alongside some friendly culinary competition.
Twenty amateur, professional and celebrity chefs will vie for Chef of the Year honors, serving tastings and samples that give guests plenty to discuss between bites. Participants include Chef Mazi of NXTBites Catering Co., Chef Erias Wright of 301 Smokehouse, and Chef Ian Barthley with students from Oxon Hill High School’s Consumer Services, Hospitality and Tourism Career Cluster.
For the students, returning for their third year, the afternoon offers practical experience in hospitality, community service and event operations.
But this cook-off serves something beyond bragging rights. It brings patients, survivors, families and neighbors together around breast cancer awareness, reminding attendees that the disease affects men as well as women.
The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center will lead a forum exploring cancer risk reduction and nutrition as part of a healthy lifestyle. Workshops, vendors and resources will help connect guests with information and support.
Expect music, dancing and prizes, too—because community encouragement can come with a lively soundtrack.
Admission is $10 per person, with proceeds benefiting Fight Through Flights Inc., a Prince George’s County nonprofit supporting breast cancer patients and survivors.
Oxon Hill High School is at 6701 Leyte Drive. Purchase tickets through the flyer’s QR code or visit pgcedc.com/events and look for “Men Who Cook in Pink.”
Come hungry. Leave connected.
