Prince George’s County Introduces Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program to Aid Families Negatively Impacted by COVID-19
During these challenging times, families are really struggling not only to stay healthy and put food on their tables; they are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and keep the lights on.
To help struggling families whose employment income has been negatively impacted by COVID-19, Prince George’s County leadership has introduced a temporary rental assistance program to help with rent and utility payments. This may help families prevent arrears and late fees from accumulating and prevent evictions from occurring.
Applications are now being accepted.
Depending upon the need, applicants may be eligible for a maximum of up to $1,800.00 per month for a maximum of up to 3 months of emergency rental assistance.
To be eligible, renter households residing in Prince George’s County
Must demonstrate that they are at risk of having their rental housing or having utilities shut off due to COVID-19.
Must provide supporting documentation of hardship.
Must have a current income at or below 80% of area median income, as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.

Payments will be made directly to the landlord or utility company on your behalf.
