Youth Summit at Bowie State University Takes Aim at STEM Careers
Technology – or ‘the wave of the future’ – is here. And it’s everywhere.
We’re living in exciting times. From our SMART phones and TVs to being able to deposit our checks using our cell phone, technology is creeping ever more into our everyday lives. In order to keep up with all the advancements in technology, our children are going to need more support to ready themselves for careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math).
The Patriots Technology Training Center is a great resource, empowering students through technology. Asking the question, "Do You Have Game?", the Center is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Youth Summit on May 6 at Bowie State University with its “Mission Critical: Securing the Pipeline Cyber Security Careers.” Participating students will enjoy workshops such as: Defend Your Network “NET dot SEC” Video Game; Working In A Computer Call Center; Trouble Shooting Your Computer; Getting A Certification…A Plus, Security and Networking; Name That Cyber Security Career (Jeopardy Game). There are competitions in cyber security networking and flight simulation. Parents can also take part in workshops designed to inform them on college and federal government programs for their high school and college students.
Students will receive breakfast, lunch, a summit shirt and chance to win door prizes.
