C. Anthony Muse Continues to Build On Existing Relationships In 2018 Bid
The resounding message that bonded many of the nearly 500 who attended Maryland State Senator C. Anthony Muse’s BBQ fundraiser Sept. 15 had to do with connections and relationships between the candidate and the constituency.
“It will come down to who people relate to in this election,” said a volunteer at Muse’s event aimed at supporting his bid for county executive in 2018. She says she’s known Muse for over a decade and came to know him as someone who heard her concerns and addressed them directly.
Terry Speigner, a longtime county democratic leader, was among those echoing similar thoughts. “People will choose and place their vote based on who they feel most connects with their interests and will address their needs,” he says. “I believe that will be Anthony Muse.”
Muse greeted guests and other candidates running for office as many came in by the busload at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 89 in Upper Marlboro, Md.
“I’m campaigning for the seat of county executive [in] Prince George’s County,” Muse said. “But the seat doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to the people.”
Muse acknowledged great strides made by county leaders over the past decade with regard to economic development but noted that schools and other areas need attention in order to move forward.
