STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROB ROBERTS
On August 27, 2025, The United Golfers Association (UGA) Partner launched Sapphire Inaugural Golf Tour at Woodmore Country Club. The Sapphire Golf Tour is a new professional tour series designed to elevate Black women in competitive golf. The tour is backed by the UGA’s 100-year legacy of advocacy and advancement with the goal of providing a national platform for professional tour players and collegiate players that includes special exemptions for juniors to compete, earn, and gain visibility as they work toward LPGA and international tour status. Created to bridge the gap between college and elite-level competition, it offers rising talent the chance to compete, earn, and gain vital exposure. More than a tournament series, Sapphire provides access to top-tier coaching, advanced player development, and strategic exemptions that open doors to the highest levels of the sport. At its core, the tour is a movement—amplifying Black brilliance and the cultural power of Black women spectators to spark visibility, build legacy, and drive systemic change. Backed by industry leaders and anchored in purpose, Sapphire is the blueprint for equity, pride, and generational impact.
