A Survey of 1,100 People from Commercial Cafe’s Lists the New Skills Achieved During the Pandemic
During some of the COVID-19 downtime people have formed new creative interests and hobbies for fun or progression in their career field.
Commercial Cafe’s new survey is about free-time habits during the pandemic. We asked more than 1,100 people if they learned new skills during this time, the methods they used and whether it was for career advancement or just for fun.
A few highlights from the survey:
92% of people surveyed are learning or have learned a new skill during the pandemic.
The top skills learned by our respondents were Cooking & Baking (52%), followed by Arts & Crafts (31%) and Yoga/Fitness/Meditation (26%).
46% of respondents are working on job-specific skills, such as coding, social media marketing and web design.
More than half of our respondents (57%) learned a new skill for personal interest, while 30% were looking to change their career.
In terms of what tools they used to learn, 69% of our respondents used tutorials, 43% relied on apps and another 39% supplemented with books.
Learning new skills are an asset in the long run. Acquiring new abilities will be essential in the new post COVID-19 environment as people are finding a silver lining in the COVID cloud.
