By popular demand, New York African Chorus Ensemble provides free access to the movie, We Are The Endless Roar. The feature film showcases an immersive cultural, spiritual and business trip to Nigeria in 2018. The film helps to connect the dots between African American cultural practices and traditional African culture in danger of becoming extinct. Narratives by three Nigerian kings, namely; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama' ila Mohammed Mera; Onikun of Ikun-Amure, Oba David Olusola Olatunde; President of ARSADIC, Chief Dr. Sola Atanda, Asiwaju Awo Agbaye; two African American travelers (Tami Tyree and Maleeka Harris), in addition to Executive Producer, Joyce Adewumi, provide context to the various places visited. You will laugh, cry and be inspired by the adventures of the travelers.

The World War One Centennial Commission invites the public to visit the site of the National World War Memorial, Washington, DC between November 8 and 12 for a “First Look at the National World War l Memorial.”

The film festival will showcase a diverse collection of World War I-themed films to enrich viewers’ experience and bring to life this momentous time in our nation’s history.  Beginning at 10 a.m., the film festival will screen the films listed below:

The premiere showings of the new US World War I Commission sponsored short film which tells the story of World War I through the elements of the sculpture being created by sculptor Sabin Howard for the National World War I Memorial.

The fully animated feature film that tells the true story about a dog and his Doughboy in World War I. This wonderfully made movie is an ideal draw to bring entire families and their kids into the commemoration of the Armistice.

At the height of the Cold War, local Washington County boy John Schnell was chosen by the United States government to star in a film that was never intended to be shown in the United States. The Education of Johnny Schnell followed the daily life of an all American boy, and became a widely circulated propaganda film in Asia during the 1960s and 70s. General John Schnell will also share his photographs, film related memorabilia, and personal experiences.

Zama, Directed by Lucrecia Martel, Argentina, 2017. (115 mins.) Zama is a fiction film about the colonial period in Argentina. An officer of the Spanish Crown born in South America, waits for a letter from the King granting him a transfer from the town in which he is stagnating, to a better place. His situation is delicate. He must ensure that nothing overshadows his transfer. He is forced to accept submissively every task entrusted to him by successive Governors who come and go as he stays behind. The years go by and the letter from the King never arrives. When Zama notices everything is lost, he joins a party of soldiers that go after a dangerous bandit.

The screenings will occur the last Friday of June, July and August from 6-9pm and includes an indoor screening of locally produced documentary with a Q&A segment with director, and cast to follow.

Xfinity and PGAAMCC’s upcoming film screening will first feature the documentary What Happened 2 Chocolate City, June 29th, is a transformative experience that will take people on an explorative journey to understanding the history and legacy of Black Washingtonians, and the driving force behind their decline.
